Window Covering Trends for 2021

Interior design trends are constantly changing from year to year, and window coverings are no exception to that. With ever changing technology, resurgences of old trends, and new designs and materials constantly coming to the market, there are a plethora of window covering trends to choose from in 2021. Depending on the amount of light, size, and frequency of the use of the room, your home may require you to choose a few different types of window coverings.

Consider trying some of these window covering trends from 2021, coming from one of the leaders in window coverings

  • Blinds and Shades. Blinds and shades are still very popular window covering options, especially when doubled up against curtains to provide extra privacy. Wood blinds, Roman blinds, and roller blinds are particularly popular at the moment for their ease of use and sleek design.

  • Sheer Curtains. If you’re looking for a window treatment that provides privacy AND natural light, then sheer curtains are a great option for you. Sheer curtains will filter light so it isn’t too bright, but will still allow a good amount of natural light in. This is great for beach houses, and for homes with more minimalistic designs. You can also get sheer curtains in a number of different colors, such as light blues, pinks, or greens.

  • Smart Home. With smart home technology on the rise, more and more people are beginning to install smart blinds onto their windows. Drapes, blinds, and shades can be motorized and connected to smart devices like Amazon Alexa or Google Home so you can open or close your blinds/drapes whenever and wherever you are. This is especially great if you have particularly tall windows that have window coverings that are hard to reach. You can also program your smart window treatments to open and close at certain times of the day.

  • Energy Saving. Cellular window shades, or honeycomb shades, are also gaining popularity for their ability to help you save energy and lower your electric bill. This is a fantastic option if you live in a warmer climate with a lot of sun, as these window treatments can really help block out the heat from entering your home. Honeycomb shades come in a variety of designs, colors, and sizes, so you don’t have to worry about incorporating it into the design of your home.

  • Natural Elements. Using natural materials for your window treatments has become increasingly popular this year for its warm yet minimalistic edge it can add to a room. Consider incorporating real wood, jute, bamboo, or natural woven blinds for this look, or even “natural made” curtains.
